Implementation of the project "Development of advanced production technologies"
We are thrilled to kick off an ambitious project, partly funded by the European Union, aimed at sustainable material production. This initiative aims to create a scalable zero-waste technology to produce a range of polymeric materials derived from brown seaweed. The technology will then exploit the tailorable properties of alginate, which can be partially controlled during the extraction process.
By combining with advanced characterization techniques, we aim to produce alginates that are better tailored for a wide range of industrial applications. Developed technology addresses the scalability challenges often associated with seaweed-derived materials by employing a zero-waste, non-toxic approach. This ensures not only environmental sustainability but also the large-scale availability of well-characterized polymers for industrial use.
The total value of the project is EUR 1,679,886 of which EUR 1,260,812 is allocated to EU funding. The project was launched in January 9, 2025 and will be implemented by January 9, 2028.
